Disturbing? Let’s see what that REALLY means for Bel Ami.

For the past few days, my “Bel Ami” Google alert has bombarded my inbox with article titles such as Rob Pattinson calls sex with Uma Thurman disturbing and Robert Pattinson Afraid of Sex Scenes.  I have even seen titles that claim he said the sex scenes WERE disturbing – as if they’ve already happened and he’s already talking about them.  Really?

Get my opinion after the break…

Every media outlet seems to be picking up the potentially bogus interview with the Daily Record.  I’m not writing this to ponder whether the interview is real or not.  Maybe he really is watching Braveheart several times a day. Who knows.  I am here to take issue with the way the media organizations are twisting his words for attention.

The Daily Record claims that Robert said in an interview:

“The sex scenes with Uma are kind of disturbing. Her character kind of uses sex as a sort of weapon and my character thinks like an animal.”

Yes, he (potentially) says the sex scenes are disturbing.  I bet he regrets that particular choice of words as much as he regrets ever saying he enjoys Hot Pockets.

Hot Pockets and Disturbing Sex. These are a few of Rob's favorite things.. NOT!

But what does he mean? Does he mean HE will be disturbed filming them?  Um, no.  Does he mean he is afraid to film sex scenes?  Have you seen his leading ladies?  C’mon now.

My take on this interview is that the sex scenes with Uma Thurman’s character Madeleine are not necessarily the love filled scenes that make you wanna snuggle up to your plus one.  They are struggles for power and empty attempts at gaining love from a sexual partner.

See for yourself in this teaser/spoiler from the script:

He kisses her neck. She sighs, almost in spite of herself.  Georges is completely distracted, hands all over her.

MADELEINE

No Georges – I want to work.

But he holds onto her. She sees that the quickest thing to do is give in.

Do you see how the word disturbing could apply now?

This interview is spinning out of control all over the internet.  And it’s making my head hurt.

I subscribe to Google alerts for Rob, too, and am always shaking my head at the spin they put on things. When I first signed up, I was click happy. It didn’t take long to figure out that most of the info is a load of crap, so I ignore them.

Having said that, the thought of Rob having sex onscreen with Uma disturbs me. Does that count? LMAO!

      HA! 😀
      it counts..

i’m choosing to BELIEVE (read it) that it’s gonna be all kinds of unfeeling-fucking-HOT! 😉 right?

it gets me worked up that people get so worked up bout this shit. Ye cuz he’d really say oh by the way it’s disturbing the fuck out of me having to do sex scenes with Uma. We know the man has no filter, but really people?!!

Apart from that and people not being able to read properly.. he said nothing bad in that snippet of an interview. real or not.
      🙂

Media always takes quotes out of context and distorts anything anybody says. I agree with you. Poor Rob. Some entertainers and stars won’t even DO interviews for that reason. Rob is a brave guy for putting up with all of this crap. It would drive me crazy if it was happening to ME. He’s so laid back. I love that about him.

In deed I think the entire relationship with Madelaine was awkward, George didn’t love her, I doubt if she ever loved him perhaps just at the beginning, and then sex was a kind of power struggle

    • Vampwannabe says:

I actually thought Georges started to have feelings for her, but she was incapable of really having feelings for him. She was very controlling and not ‘sexual’ towards Georges.Very disrepectful toward him, I felt. So his feelings changed and he stopped looking at her the same way. anyway…that was my take on the relationship. I DID NOT like madeleine, though I actually like Clo 🙂

As for media, THAT IS DISTURBING, I’m really afraid people beleive all the “articles” that pop in every time you google News of Robert Pattinson , it’s full of crap and bullshit I’m so sorry common people (not his fans)make that impression of him.

  5. Thanks, you have just agreed with what I wrote on my blog this afternoon. That it is all a load of crap, the tabloids don’t have anything better to write. I have a feeling that the next thing we’ll hear is Rpattz is gay!!!! I bet you anything that someone will pick this up from here. Keep up the good work Belamifilm, I like what you write.

MTV asked Rob – it’s FAKE!
“UPDATE: Following reports from ROBsessed and GossipCOP that the Daily Record story was a fabrication, we reached out to Pattinson’s representation for clarification. The response we got is that he never spoke to them. Consider this “interview” debunked.”

  7. Vampwannabe says:

In the book, Georges, I felt had more actual FEELINGS for Madeleine (uma) than she had for him. She was not ‘into him sexually’ eventhough Georges was a VERY sexual person. anyway…that’s what I took from Rob’s remarks. Which completely MATCH the storyline in the book.
anyway…I cannot WAIT to see this film. Brilliant book!

Our Rob wasnt really meant for interviews… he is totally sweet and adorable to look at and listen to in them but he also hands the paps so much fodder that they rarely have to make stuff up, they just twist his unthinking words around to suit their needs… like when he joked about not washing his hair and they jumped all over that one… totally stupid of them!! I love Rob but he really needs to watch how he words things with these vultures out there!!♥

  9. PunkyBumpkin says:

I’ve seen so many things Rob has said that have been twisted to something negative or “scandalous”. He does sometimes not use the best choice of words, perhaps, (it happens to everybody), but I feel like I get what he’s saying.

I’ve also noticed in other cases, that people seem to not get his humor a lot of the time, especially when translated to print, and take some things he says way too literally.

It all gives me a headache too.

  10. Natalia says:

I bet Rob and his manager, agents have more questions like “did he say that or not?” than real interviews themselves.
